Upcoming visit to the Del Rio, Texas area

This week we head to the border town of Del Rio for a new feature. We have been to several border towns and have heard good things about De Rio and Acuna, Mexico just across the border where Wolfman Jack had his claim to radio fame, blasting out 1 million watts, among other interesting history notes. We will be highlighting an historic bed & breakfast and things to do in the area. The historic Fort Clark is just down the road, as well as Alamo Village which has been the site for many Western movies over the years (and was built by John Wayne for the movie The Alamo). More to come.
Best in your travels,

Texas scenes. Can you identify where these photos were taken?

Here are some scenes from some of our travels around Texas. Can you correctly identify the exact locations (town and where the photo was taken)? Ok, I'll give you a running start. The first one is really a given. Everyone knows about the Cadillac Ranch in Amarillo. This weekend the area received a fresh batch of snow - 8 inches! Wonder what the graffiti Cadillac cars look like now. If someone can identify all the exact locations, reply in the comments section or contact us. We will send you a free book on Texas.

The price of gas has continued to get better, welcome news especially for RVers. It is now as low at $1.83 where we live in central Texas. Let's hope that it continues to get better. Look for new features coming soon as we visit Del Rio along the border, and highlight more features from our London travels.

Upcoming trip to South Texas | new bookmarking and tagging features added to blog

With the impending ice/sleet/snow expected to hit us here in Texas (I can hear the freezing rain pelting the windows now), we have delayed our upcoming trip to the Del Rio and surrounding area by two weeks. The weather should be warmer by then, and hopefully the rain will be gone. With the southern area of the state so rich in history, we plan to focus on the most interesting to feature here. You may have noticed that we have been focusing alot on Texas lately.
There are several reasons:
1. It's a tripple whopper of a state. Did you know that the original Texas Constitution in 1845 includes a resolution stating that Texas has the legal right to divide into 4 states in addition to the original Texas?
2. We are located here and there are lots of unique and interesting places to see.
3. After traveling to London last year and many other states in previous years, we wanted to add more Texas features to our destination guides, especially ones that represent a unique and historic travel experience.
You may have noticed in our blogs the addition of a new linking method to share our travel blog posts. Several bookmarking and tagging services have been added all under one service where you can link using Del.icio.us, Digg, Blinklist, Technorati, Furl, Reddit, Newsvine, Netscape, and many others. We also plan to add this to our feature and destination guide pages to make it easier for our readers to track.
Through the FeedBlitz service (see in the right sidebar), you can be notified by email as our travel blog is updated.
This year, we are also in the process of redesigning our website, adding a content management system, updating our backend processes, and adding many new services, including a travel community section.
If you have comments or suggestions please let us know via our contact us page.

Upcoming visit along the border to Del Rio and San Antonio

Coming up later this month we visit the border town of Del Rio and the Villa Del Rio B&B. Many western movies have been made here near where Judge Roy Bean laid down the law, including The Alamo with John Wayne. In fact, the Alamo Villiage set is noted as being the largest and most complete outdoor movie set in the country. The fun city of Acuña, Mexico is only a 3 minute drive away, and offers lots of bargains and treats for tourists.

We have been to San Antonio several times over the years. From the Riverwalk, the Alamo, the historic sites, museums, and great Tex-Mex food, this dynamic city will be the focus of a new segment from our upcoming visit.
