Scenic Views and Relaxing Ambience of the Omni Mandalay

During our recent stay at the Omni Mandalay from the start we could see why the NFC and Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers chose the hotel. Besides being near Dallas Stadium with scenic views of Lake Carolyn and downtown Dallas in the distance, the service of the staff is exceptional. In fact, I have found all Omnis we have stayed at to go out of their way to make your stay memorable.

As part of the luxury chain of Omni hotels and resorts, the 28-story Omni Mandalay Hotel at Las Colinas includes a total of 421 guest rooms and suites with an Asian flare throughout. All of the guest rooms in the AAA four-diamond rated hotel include a USA Today newspaper at your door and an evening turndown by request.

King-Sized Bedroom

Our Presidential Suite guest room on the 28th floor is the largest I have seen, with 2,890 square feet of living area. The suite is perfect for a family gathering, wedding, business meeting, or if just wanting privacy to unwind. The interior was tastefully appointed with classic antique furniture pieces, and warm earth tones. The Presidential Suite includes a full living room with grand piano in the corner, two king-sized bedrooms, two large bathrooms (both with showers, one with hot tub), a kitchenette, a dining room with seating for eight, and a walk-out balcony with patio table and chairs.


Many of the 421 guest rooms offer views of the lakefront, with a walk-out balcony (except for Deluxe Rooms). Guest rooms range in size from 449 up to 2,890 square feet. Each guest room is appointed with cable TV with movies and video games on demand, couch or love seat, bathrobes, work desk, dual phone lines with voicemail, iron and ironing board, hair dryer, elegant marble bathroom, lighted makeup mirror, coffeemaker with coffee and tea, and fully stocked mini fridge. For those wanting to get fit in your room while away, Get Fit Guest Rooms come complete with an automated portable treadmill, healthy snacks, and kit including two dumbbells, elastic bands, and floor mat.

Kids (and parents) will love the Kids' Sensory Suite that includes art table, beanbag chairs, toys, books, games, and two twin beds. The Omni Mandalay Hotel has the distinction of being one of three Omni hotels named to Travel and Leisure's World's Best Hotels for Families list in 2009.

Complimentary Wi-Fi Internet access is available by registering with Omni's free Select Guest loyalty program. Some of the other initial perks when registering with Omni Select Guest include complimentary morning beverages delivered to your room, newspaper of your choice, a shoe shine, and bottled water when you arrive. With more stays come greater perks, including a complimentary dessert, room upgrades, and the accruing of award points towards free nights or airline miles. The free Omni loyalty program also now includes rewards through the Global Hotel Alliance to offer more perks available for travellers.


The lobby area includes a gift shop and reclining areas surrounded by live tropical plants. Over 31,000 square feet of banquet/meeting/wedding space is available within 22 specialty meeting room areas. Interesting vintage artwork is located throughout the Omni of Burmese natural landscapes from an earlier era.


The Omni Mandalay Fitness Center includes the latest in exercise equipment, including treadmills, exercise bikes, Nautilus free weights and equipment.


You can also jog along the lake or rent a bicycle (check with the front desk for a map at check-in) and see the waterfowl, including two black swans. A Gondala Adventure boat ride can be scheduled on the lake through the Omni.


Dip into the heated outdoor pool by the lake, surrounded by reclining chairs. Kids will enjoy the playground area. After exercising, what better way to relax than the hot tub by the pool. The Omni Mandalay offers in-house massage therapy by appointment, with a nearby Aveda spa and salon available.

In the evening we enjoyed some wonderful Italian dishes at Trevi's Restaurant located inside the Omni Mandalay. Read more about Trevi's as our Feature Restaurant. Guests can dine in the restaurant or the vine-covered patio outside.

Free covered onsite parking is available, with valet parking available for a nominal fee. A free shuttle service is provided for destinations within five miles of the hotel. Downtown Dallas is located just 15 minutes away from the Omni Mandalay.
