Galveston, Texas

by Carl Burnham
The Queen Anne Bed & Breakfast - Galveston, Texas
Built in 1905, the house is a three-story Queen Anne-style house with a Victorian charm throughout. Rooms are filled with vintage antiques, period furniture, and dramatic stained glass.

Features also include 10-foot pocket doors, wood floors with inlaid parquet, and four porch areas.

The Queen Anne includes five rooms with private bathrooms, and one room with nearby private bathroom. My favorite rooms in the way of design were the Mardi Gras and the Dickens Room.

The honeymoon suite includes an inviting hot tub. Many of the rooms include large armoires. Each room includes private air conditioner and heater for comfort and an added feel of privacy.

Our breakfast was a treat, with fresh fruit-pineapples, red and white grapes, and cantelope. This was followed with a delicious rosemary cream cheese eggs, with thick sliced bacon, watermelon, and cranberry bread. During the afternoon, enjoy the living room area and try some fresh cookies and tea while you relax in a hammock on the shaded back deck.

There are ample areas to relaxing, reading, or socializing. The second floor includes a sitting room, with computer and cable TV/VCR. Free parking is provided for cruise guests who stay a night, and covered parking is also available for motorcycles in the B&B garage during the Lone Star Bike Rally held September 29th - October 2nd. Adults with children 12 and over are welcome, no smoking indoors or pets.

The house includes several charming stain glass windows, which dramatically show light through in the late afternoonsWe would like to thank the Queen Anne B&B and the Galveston B&B Association for assisting with our feature and accomodating us.
