Kennedy Space Center -  Florida

For the history buffs, another interesting tour to see is "Cape Canaveral: Then and Now", which visits the sites of the beginnings of America's manned space program. Visits are made to the site of the first Mercury launches and the first U.S. satellite. There is also a Mercury memorial, and a trip to the Cape Canaveral lighthouse, which was built in 1868.

Another interesting tour is one where you can glimpse eagle, osprey, and other wildlife. The Kennedy Space Center is surrounded by the 140,000-acre Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge, and uses only five percent of the area. We hope to come back in the fall for coverage of a night space shuttle launch. No tax dollars are used to fund the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex.

We would like to thank the Delaware North Parks Services and NASA for providing Southpoint with assistance to access the Kennedy Space Center for our review here.

Directions and Fees

The Kennedy Space Center is located on the east coast of Florida near Titusville, Florida. It is approximately midway between Jacksonville and Miami. If visiting the Kennedy Space Center, you may inquire about tickets by contacting Delaware North Park Services at (321) 449-4444.
